What I look for in a book: First I start with the storyline. If I don't like the story line, 99% of the time I will put it back. Doesn't matter if it's an author I like. If I don't see myself reading it, I won't. I also look for strong characters and ones I can relate to in some way. I tend to prefer 3rd person story telling vs. 1st person. I have gotten over that issue the past year.

What makes me put down a book: I used to read a book front to back regardless if I hated it. I will put it down if I can't make it through the first 100 pages without wanting to pull my hair out. I will also put it down if it's a struggle to get through. Sometimes that means that I don't like the plot, something is missing and I can't put a finger on it or the characters are just unbearable.  I have put down books half way through as well.
